Planning an award show?

In March 2024 we provided a large 20m wide by 5m high backdrop for the Women in Business Awards in the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The backdrop was customisable from both a lighting and a projection point of view.
There were no screens, in the traditional sense of the word, but projected images could appear on and off the backdrop material as necessary - in that regard the image did not need to be a rigid 16:9 format, as can be seen here with the ‘Women in Business’ logo, being the only image shown on the backdrop.

The complete structure was built from truss. As well as the up & down lighting of the backdrop material, the truss itself was lit internally to really make it stand out as a feature of the backdrop . We printed and hung the centre banner which was used as a focal point on the stage for ‘winners’ photos.
We are a full production company and so provided all lighting and sound reinforcement equipment as well. This complete show was setup during the day with our technicians doing late afternoon rehearsals, then running the show in the evening under the direction of our client.

In May of 2023, we provided full technical production for the CIPR awards held in the Merchant hotels Rita Duffy suite.
We put together a package that gave the stage area a real feeling of depth by using different stage heights, screen sizes and both high and low-level lighting.
We then lit the whole room with uplighters making for a very intimate space. And again, provided a full audio package which included the post event DJ linking into our system.
This awards show was pretty low key with there being only a drinks reception and no formal dinner. That being said no expense was spared when it came to production, with the client being quite meticulous in the details.
The last show I’ll mention is the ‘Women in Tech’ Awards that were held in the Europa hotel in May of this year (2024).
We provided an 8m wide screen with edge-blended projection on a 14m black drape backdrop with integrated 2m high pixel bars.
Visual content is always important, whether it be from the point of view of the organiser, the sponsor or the delegate. Everybody wants to see whats going on, especially if you are shortlisted and there is potential your picture could be up there! This is where a good size screen comes in and this 8m screen fitted the bill perfectly. Two projectors were flown out the front of the room, keeping them well out of the way which lended themselves to this setup very well.
Coupled together with our pixel bars which also ran visual content though them this was a visually impressive setup all round.
As well as the visuals and backdrop we provided full production to include all audio, staging & lighting, to make for a really fantastic night.
As you can see the whole room is awash with light, which is all controllable by our technicians. This is useful for changing the look and/or mood of the room as well as creating impactful awards walk-up stings, then turning the room into a dance-floor, if there is a band or DJ post awards!
