Day 21 - 17/07/20 - Piss wet through

I've updated yesterdays mileage on yesterdays blog but it is 37km total and ascent of 815m if you don't want to go back to look.

I was up early this morning for two reasons. The first being I was camped in a farmer's field and didn't want to get a bollocking first thing in the morning. And the second was that the only way into lisnaskea was via a busy road which included two bridges over a central Island.
The road is not only busy with cars but lorries as well and I wanted to get over the bridges as early as possible to avoid being squished.
I did narrowly avoided be squished on a few occasions although I'm not sure my get across early plan worked as it was mega busy anyways!! ๐Ÿคจ.

I had skipped breakfast to get on the road first thing so I stopped at the Share centre for some food (Huel & Banana) and a half pint of tea, which some campers gave me some milk.
After waiting for 30 min for the toilets to be cleaned I gave up and headed on, after filling my camel bag (water) up at the outside tap.

From here lisnaskea wasn't that far but it's from here the weather took a turn for the worse and at around midday it started to rain.

I got into lisnaskea and dried of while eating a seafood chowder lunch in The Kissin Crust before setting of in the rain again. I checked the forecast in the cafe and it said showers until around 1500 which I could of handled ok. Unfortunately I arrived in Magheraveely around 1615 and it was still raining!!
I seen a pub and was trying to get in when a local man opened his front door and enquired if I was alright?
I asked about the pub and he said probably wouldn't be open till 1800 so I enquired about somewhere to stay the night as I really wasn't looking forward to putting up my tent and sleeping in semi wet/damp kit.

The bloke who is called Les and it turns out is from Belfast but moved out here 20 years ago told me there was a Hotel in Clones about three miles away and he'd give me a lift if I wanted?
I gladly accepted and as luck would have it the Creighton Hotel was open and had rooms available.

So now dry and warm again, all I have to do is to wait for my clothes to dry out and I be set for the road again ๐Ÿ˜.

If Les is reading this. Thankyou again for the lift you are an absolute star. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Totals for the day are on my GPS and I'll update tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜.

31km walked with an ascent of 440m.
