Day 16 - 12/07/20 - Donegal calling
Well I walked today even if some didn't 😅.
I forgot yesterdays mileage - 35km with ascent of 426m.
Leaving Pettigo to a bit of drizzle I headed up into the hills and lakes of lovely Donegal.
Not too much to report on today's activities. Roads were quiet enough of traffic and I didn't pass another person on my travels bar a man cutting his hedge 500m outside Pettigo and two girls who seemed to be cycling around the county if not further afield. They said hello but didn't stop to chat.
Hopefully cause we were on a hill rather than them not liking the look of me 🧐🙂.
There was another river crossing but somewhat easier than yesterday as there was a ladder style metal section across the river to aid crossing.
It was half submerged meaning the last part was a hop, skip & a jump. But socks are still dry so I mustn't done to bad!
This section was a bit of off road which was a welcome change although a tad boggy in places.
Although the weather was threatening to rain all day it held off until 1615 and I arrived in Belleek around 1730 so it wasn't so bad although a quick and quite heavy shower spoilt some of my lunch break but I won't complain.
Am currently sitting in the 'Black Cat Cove' bar in Belleek sipping a pint of Guinness and eating a packet of Tayto.
Today's mileage - 30km and 470m ascent.
