Day 25/26 - 21&22 July 2020 - I just got lighter

What's the best way to relax on your rest days? Get rid of four and a half months of hair of course ๐Ÿ˜‚.
Well I didn't go that drastic but it definitely feels good getting your hair back into some sort of shape again!

It was still a sunny day yesterday after I stopped so I emptied the contents of my rucksack out and went though what I needed cleaned, binned and replenished as well as drying, airing and cleaning my tent out.
It's still a work in progress at the minute but I'll have everything back together again for kickoff first thing Thursday morning.

As I write my blogs each evening I try and fill them with all the interesting (or as interesting as it gets when you're walking) things of the day. Inevitably my brain does let me down every now and again and some tales do get left out.
So between today and tomorrow I'll be racking my brain trying to find those missing memories to entertain you all.

Don't ask we which days these are on as everything gets blended into one after a while so if I don't write it up that night it will generally get lost in the time-space continuum.

So we're starting with....
'The bird poo incident'
I was walking along as I normally do down a wee back road on a pretty overcast day although it must have been warm enough as I had my t-shirt on.
When all of a sudden I felt a little bump on my right forearm.
I look down to see a small unbroken blackish grey pellet shaped object stuck to my arm. What the heck I thought! Where did that come from? Then it dawned on me that I'd just been crapped on ๐Ÿ™„.
Ok so it's not broken, so I can just flick it off and all will be right with the world again ๐Ÿ˜Š. Wrong!!
I flick it with my left hand and the thing explodes into a mess of crap (pun ๐Ÿ˜) on my arm ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ.
For feck sake.... Now I've a forearm full of messy poo, what the heck am I gonna do??
No joke the actual best thing I could think of was to wipe it with my fingers and then wipe my fingers on my shorts. A couple of times doing this and it was basically all gone (basically) ๐Ÿ™ˆ.

That not being the end of the story however, as around twenty minutes later I take a drink from my camelback system which has a hose and mouth piece coming out of my backpack to my left side shoulder. The mouthpiece is opened and closed like a popper and can be open with you mouth/teeth easily enough. But closing it usually with your fingers is best. And here in lies the crunch ๐Ÿ˜ฌ.
I closed the mouthpiece with my bird poo fingers not actually thinking about it until after my next drink after which I considered Covid19 to be way down the list of my problems that day.

Not really that exciting but I dropped my GPS for the first time in the whole three weeks I've been on my wee dander so far.
I was trying to work out how many times a day I take my GPS out of my pocket and would guesstimate around 120, although I suppose it would depend how far I am walking.

Anyway, it was like a scene from scooby doo. I lifted it out with my left hand - forefingers and thumb and went to grip it with the palm of my hand when it literally just slide out of my fingers. Wasn't even raining or anything!! ๐Ÿคจ.
Then all in slow mo, it's heading to the ground and as it bounces of my leg I make a right handed attempt to catch it followed by a quick fire left handed attempt which also fails and I hear it dink off the tarmac road.

Some cursing and muttering later I pick it up and hoping it's still in one piece survey the damage.
Screen is set into the unit and is still intact and on. I press the touch screen buttons to check functionality and all looks to be good.
Checking over the rest of the unit it has a bit of a dinge one one of the corners and some superficial scratches but at least it's working.

I hadn't really thought about it before but if I lose or break my GPS then it's pretty much game over for the walking for a while. Unless I resort to OS maps ๐Ÿ™‰

I've tallied my miles so far, and so the first 14 days on the road I clocked 335km with the next 12 days adding another 300km. Making a grand total of 635km to date (day 26 - 22/07/20).
These totals include my rest days, and at the current rate of walking/resting I reckon I should be finished in about a fortnight ๐Ÿ™‚.

Catch yous back on the road ๐Ÿ˜.
